In a surprising turn of events, Pakistani fast bowler Ihsanullah has retracted his decision to retire from all franchise cricket, a choice he initially made after being overlooked in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 draft. The 22-year-old, who had previously represented Multan Sultans, admitted that his earlier announcement was made in an emotional state.

"I take my decision back," Ihsanullah stated in an interview with Geo Super. "No franchise picked me, and the comments of a lot of people sent me over the edge. I'm going to work hard. There are four months before the PSL. The people who didn't select me are the same ones who will select me in the future. I have no plans to retire."

Ihsanullah's initial retirement announcement came shortly after the conclusion of the PSL 2025 draft, where he went unsold. At the time, he expressed frustration over not being picked and declared that he would no longer participate in the PSL. However, after reflecting on his decision and receiving support from fans and fellow players, he decided to continue his cricketing career.

The young pacer had a breakout season in PSL 8, where he impressed with his pace and wicket-taking abilities. Unfortunately, he suffered an elbow injury during his first ODI series against New Zealand, which led to a prolonged recovery period. The handling of his injury by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was criticized, with Multan Sultans' owner Ali Tareen stating that the franchise had to bear the brunt of his living expenses during rehabilitation.

Despite the setback, Ihsanullah is determined to make a comeback. He plans to train rigorously over the next few months to regain his form and fitness. Multan Sultans have offered him the opportunity to represent their departmental team in the upcoming President's Cup Grade Two tournament and have extended support by allowing him to use their facilities for training. ?

Ihsanullah's story serves as a reminder of the emotional challenges athletes face and the importance of support systems in helping them navigate their careers. His decision to continue playing is a testament to his resilience and passion for the sport.
