Sylhet, April 20, 2025:Day 2 of the first Test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe concluded with the hosts trailing by 25 runs in their second innings at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. After being dismissed for 191 in their first innings, Bangladesh bounced back thanks to a brilliant five-wicket haul by Mehidy Hasan Miraz and a fiery spell from debutant Nahid Rana.Zimbabwe posted 273 in their second innings, gaining a crucial 82-run lead. Brian Bennett’s aggressive 57 and captain Craig Ervine’s patient 83 anchored the innings. Mehidy Hasan was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh, finishing with 5 wickets for 50 runs in 20.2 overs. Nahid Rana supported with 3 crucial wickets, including that of Sean Williams.In reply, Bangladesh began their third innings cautiously and reached 57/1 at stumps on Day 2. Opener Shadman Islam was dismissed early by Blessing Muzarabani for 4, but Mahmudul Hasan Joy (28*) and Mominul Haque (15*) steadied the ship before stumps.With three more days remaining, the Test remains evenly poised.
