Rohit Sharma Reportedly Set to Miss England Test Series
Reports indicate that Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma is likely to opt out of the upcoming Test series against England. According to India Today, sources have claimed that Rohit has already made his decision due to his poor form in red-ball cricket. However, there has been no official confirmation from Rohit or the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
During the recent Test series against Australia, Rohit managed only 31 runs in three matches and even benched himself for the final Sydney Test. If he steps down, selectors will need to find a suitable replacement as India prepares for a challenging tour of England, starting June 20 at Headingley.
Meanwhile, several Indian players could be included in the India A squad, set to face England Lions in two four-day matches before the main Test series. The matches are scheduled for May 30 in Canterbury and June 6 in Northampton.
Karun Nair in the Spotlight
With IPL 2025 concluding on May 25, selectors have ample time to finalize squads. Karun Nair, who delivered an exceptional domestic season, is a strong contender for a spot. He emerged as the leading run-getter in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and ranked fourth in Ranji Trophy with 863 runs in nine matches, guiding Vidarbha to their third title.
While Rohit's absence is yet to be confirmed, cricket fans and analysts are eagerly waiting for an official announcement from BCCI regarding the squad selection.
